19”H x 38”W $700 Some days I feel energized by the glorious sun on my face and the gentle breeze blowing around me.
The art in this gallery is inspired by the marks I see while walking as part of my daily exercise program. Mostly the marks are what I see on the sidewalk in my subdivision. Others are the marks I observed while walking on a frozen lake in snow shoes. The primary techniques are flour paste resist and dye painting.
22”H x 70”w $900 What machine made these marks on the sidewalk? Do different sections tell a story?
25”H x 36.5”W$700 One of the pleasures of the daily walk is catching up on the news with the neighbors.
24”H x 40”W $675 Glorious sunshine inspires. I love the brightness it gives the world.
18”H x 21”W $300 The sky is different today. Will I finish my walk before the storm or will I get drenched?
27”H x 41”W$850 The marks I see at the corner intersection are interesting. What is it about them that attracts my attention?
38”H x 54”W $1200 As I arrive at the crosswalk I notice all the places where the paint is worn away revealing the asphalt beneath. It makes for interesting shapes and texture.
22”H x 22”W $350 The earthworms and other creatures like the sidewalk too. They are particularly noticeable after several days of rain when the earth is saturated with moisture.
On the Path
32”H x 53”W $1100 Walking on a path in the park is a lovely change. In the woods with the stream beside me, I’m aware of the sharp contrast between just dirt and the concrete.
32.5 “H x 31.5”W$600 High overhead the sun shines through the trees creating a dappled effect. The marks and textures on the sidewalk are inspiring.
27”H x 34.5 W $650 It’s a bright happy day. I walk with a light step.
In the Shade
30.5”H x 31.5”W$625 The sun is hot and I am looking for shade.
32.5”H x 26.5”W $425 While walking I not only notice the marks on the sidewalk but also the many tones of color in the spruce trees.
After the Rain
33”H x 28”W $525 After the thunder storm the children’s chalk marks are smeared and there is much debris on the sidewalk. The air is fresh and the earth smells clean.
26”H x 33.5”W $600 Pollen is floating everywhere and the nose responds.
24”H x 24”W$375 While Walking I notice the cracks in the driveways throughout the neighborhood. The shapes the cracks form are so varied. What is the cause of these variations?
39”H x 43”W $1400 While walking in snow shoes on the lake in January I became fascinated by the patterns within the ice. One could think you were looking at a galaxy in space instead of 24 inches of frozen water.
34”H x 44”W SOLD Surrounded by frozen land and snow covered boulders the water flows. There is a beauty in the sight and sound of the open water. The earth is so quiet and only the sound of the water is heard.
39”H x 58”W SOLD While noticing all the marks made on the snow by man and beast I add mine to the many. The next snow will change the appearance of the frozen lake once again.
32”H x 64”W $1300 Beneath the brilliant sky, listen to the stillness. Feel the vastness of the land and the mystery of the woods.
Two Feet Thick
43”H x 43”W $1400 The patterns in the ice are revealed as the wind sweeps away the snow on the lake.
32”H x 22”W $450 The water flows over the edge: a stream here, a trickle there. Broken up by the rock face the patterns and lines visually inspire.
