The Colors of Courage
This gallery depicts COLORS OF COURAGE. After my husband was diagnosed with myeloma it was hard to focus on anything but him and his treatment. Achieving partial remission meant we could return to living life. Creating small works using my own cotton scraps would be a great project for me jumpstarting my creative energy. I love playing with the colors while promoting awareness for the many different cancers. Being diagnosed with any form of cancer takes courage and steadfastness. Many treatments take their toll challenging stamina and fortitude. Some cancers are curable and others are not. Even though I focused on the colors for cancer awareness I have learned that many of the colors create awareness for other types of disease and life conditions. Orange can be leukemia and multiple sclerosis while purple can be pancreatic cancer or dementia. The colors don’t have to mean anything if they just make one happy.
All of the squares are mounted on 6 inch professional gallery wrapped canvas that is 1 1/2 inches thick. All off the squares have a a little bit of red as part of the composition representing life and hope. They can sit on the bookcase or hang on the wall.
